- Extensive outreach and education efforts are made to inform eligible applicants
- Materials are available in multiple languages, and forums are held to spread information
- There is a 90-day deadline to submit the supervisory license application
- The department doesn't have recommendations for changing the current process
- The focus has been on implementing Local Law 18 as enacted by the council

What is the communication between the agency and those that are applying for the permits?
Corinne Schiff
0:36:31
So we have done extensive outreach and education to make sure that people who are eligible to apply for the permit understand that opportunity.
0:36:40
First, who are eligible to apply for the supervisory license understand that opportunity, and then understand the opportunity to apply for the permit.
0:36:48
You've heard from my colleague at SBS, so we've worked closely together to make sure that those who are on the waiting list, who are then offered the license, are aware of the opportunity.
0:36:59
And we've got materials in many languages on our website.
0:37:04
We've held forums.
0:37:06
We talk to vendors on the phone.
0:37:08
So we are really working hard to get the word out about this vending opportunity.
Julie Menin
0:37:13
But is there a cutoff period if you don't hear back from an applicant?
Corinne Schiff
0:37:17
There is a deadline to apply for license.
0:37:20
So when we issue the supervisory license application, there's ninety days to submit that application.
0:37:27
That's why we've been able to issue more.
0:37:29
After that deadline passes, we see what came in, what did not, what was not returned, and then we put those back into the hopper and send them out again.
Julie Menin
0:37:38
I see.
0:37:38
Okay.
0:37:42
How does the number of supervisory permits issue compare to the number of supervisory license issues, and what do you believe then you know, we talked about the reason for the discrepancy, but what do you believe could be the fix for it?
0:37:58
Like, how can we solve this issue in your recommendation?
Corinne Schiff
0:38:07
So I don't know.
0:38:08
I think there's an important question about why people become supervisory license holders and do not immediately become permit holders.
0:38:18
I think it's an area for investigation.
0:38:21
And I think it's you know, the the the local law was set up in a way to allow people to have time before they apply for a permit.
Julie Menin
0:38:30
So does that aspect of the law in your recommendation need to be changed?
Corinne Schiff
0:38:36
I I don't I don't have a recommendation for that.
0:38:38
I don't Okay.
0:38:38
You know, it depends on what the objectives are.
0:38:40
What what we have done at the health department is taken the law that the council enacted under local law 18, and we have implemented it.
