Private property green infrastructure initiatives in New York City

Deputy Commissioner Licata outlines the initiatives to encourage green infrastructure on private property in New York City. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) provides financial incentives for installing green infrastructure on private lands.
- The capitally funded GI grant program has funded $13 million across 32 different sites, primarily for building green roofs.
- In 2021, DEP launched the Resilient New York City Partners program, offering pay-for-performance contracts for larger projects on private lands.
- To date, over $9.5 million has been funded in private green infrastructure, managing 11 million gallons of stormwater annually.
