  • Digital accessibility and physical accessibility (e.g., needing ramps) are identified as common issues
  • SBS refers to their business accessibility web page as a resource for businesses seeking information on compliance

Talk to us about some of the ADA rules that you generally hear about when speaking with small businesses about this issue.

really varies depending on the small business.

So you be in Chinatown.
0:48:54
You could be on the same street, and one business has a very different ADA related challenge than another business.
0:48:59
But certainly, digital accessibility is an issue that comes up, and as well as physical accessibility with the storefront business maybe needing a ramp or other adjustments to be ADA compliant.
0:49:24
So we would defer to CCHR on the complaints that they've received with businesses being noncompliant on portions of city's human rights law.
0:49:32
Just through our general course of work, it is digital accessibility that comes up and also physical accessibility.
0:49:37
And on digital accessibility and physical, we've got this business accessibility web page on our My City business site.
0:49:44
We encourage New Yorkers to go to nyc.gov/business.
0:49:48
And they can access that resource.
0:49:49
It's available in 11 languages.
0:49:52
And we make sure that the content there is refreshed and updated with expertise from MOPD and CCHR.
