Council Member Williams inquires about the practical aspects of interagency coordination, particularly how information is shared and how agencies proactively collaborate. JoAnn Kamuf Ward from CCHR explains the sometimes messy but collaborative nature of these interactions.
- Coordination happens through various means, including proactive outreach when new regulations are introduced
- Agencies often invite each other to participate in major events like Business Expos or Disability Unite Festivals
- Interagency meetings are held to discuss coordination on particular issues
- The strength of relationships between agencies can impact the effectiveness of collaboration

So how does that work like for the people that actually do the work?
1:03:33
Is it like when they have their different events do they like reach out to CCHR or is it proactive on one agency side versus the other considering to your point you have to administer our civil and human rights laws.
1:03:49
So is it CCHR saying, hey we have salary transparency coming down.
1:03:55
Here's a one pager, share this with your businesses.
1:03:57
Like how does it actually work in real life?
1:04:57
How does that work on the SBSI?
1:04:59
Like do you reach out?
1:05:01
Do you like if you have a referral system, what is the referral system?
1:05:06
If you're referring people to CCHR, like how much do you do and so you can't do anything else and then you have to refer?
1:05:13
Like what does that look like?

I think it works in like real life messy ways and all of the above as part of what you mentioned, right?
1:04:07
Sometimes with pay transparency, CCHR was getting a ton of questions about what does this require, right?
1:04:14
So we proactively reached out to SBS and said, hey, small businesses need to know what this is.
1:04:22
It covers all of them.
1:04:24
I think it goes both ways.
1:04:26
It's our outreach teams largely that organize.
1:04:30
And when big events like the Business Expo or the Disability Unite Festival are coming, there's lots of agencies who are invited.
1:04:38
And there are interagency meetings to talk about these particular things so that we can stay coordinated.
1:04:45
And And I think sometimes it depends on the willingness of the other agencies to answer the phone or to want to partner.
1:04:51
And I think with the three agencies involved in the legislation for today, those are pretty strong relationships.
