Council Member Williams inquires about the criteria used to determine funding allocation for different sanitation garages. Acting Commissioner Lojan explains that the goal is to address areas reported as dirty, based on 311 data and field observations.
- Funding is described as equitable rather than equal
- Criteria include 311 reports, field observations, and complaints from various sources
- The goal is to minimize litter and illegal dumping across the city

I wanted to quickly follow-up on something that the deputy speaker mentioned because you said that the funding is not equal, it's equitable.
1:24:06
So I just wanted to understand that criteria you use to determine how to fund the different garages because your criteria might not be criteria that we think should be a part of how you make up which garage should get what?
1:25:16
So you pretty much use three one one data and

Observational data from sanitation workers
Javier Lojan
1:24:21
Yeah.
1:24:22
I mean, my goal is to have no litter on the street or no dump outs.
1:24:27
Right?
1:24:28
So the criteria is we get locations that are reported dirty, whether it's three one one or field observations, and the goal is to get those numbers down.
1:24:38
So that's really the goal here.
1:24:40
We also try to maximize any kind of operations we have.
1:24:44
So if we have any kind of litter basket crews out there, we try to have them also service any kind of drop offs or or, you know, areas that have been illegally dumped at, you know, something that is within the scale where they can handle.
1:25:00
But ultimately, our our goal is not to leave a condition laying around for weeks at a time, and that's part of what we use the trash dash meetings for where we
1:25:10
Well, it's one of the meetings that we we have where we have the borough commands down and the district supers.
1:25:18
And field operations.
1:25:22
Supervisors and management staff.
1:25:26
So all of them are required to, you know, we also take complaints from elected officials, community boards.
