Council Member Krishnan expresses frustration with the mayor's executive budget and its impact on Parks Department staffing. He criticizes the reliance on temporary lines and the inadequate staffing levels across various roles.

  • Krishnan finds it shocking that City Hall and OMB are only funding temporary lines despite repeated calls for increased staff and funding.
  • He points out that the executive budget doesn't significantly increase the number of parks workers in permanent lines.
  • The council member emphasizes that current staffing levels, such as 40 forestry staff per borough, are insufficient for managing parks effectively.
  • Krishnan acknowledges the great work done by parks workers but stresses that current staffing is far less than what is needed for each borough.

And and I appreciate both your leadership and all the parks workers and their work every in every park in our borough.

But the fact of the matter is it it continues to be shocking to me that City Hall and OMB are only funding temporary lines despite how we have repeatedly called attention to the lack of staff and funding for our parks department.

In response, the mayor's executive budget calls for these funding of temporary lines, but doesn't actually change the game and increase the number of of parks workers in any of these lines per borough.

Understand that that's not your call but that is the budget, that is this administration's in this city hall's call.
3:21:24
It really is shocking to me because you look at forestry forestry, forty forestry staff per borough for example.
3:21:30
I don't know how you manage a borough at all.
3:21:33
I know you all you do all do great work, but it's far less than what you need for the parks across each borough.
