Commissioner Rodriguez announces the expansion of the Weigh in Motion program to protect more bridges from damage caused by overweight vehicles.
- New York City received expanded authority for the Weigh in Motion program in the recently passed state budget
- The program is now authorized for use on the BQE and eight additional bridges, including the Queensboro, Manhattan, and Williamsburg Bridges
- This expansion will help keep overweight vehicles off bridges and maintain them in a state of good repair
- The program allows for a $650 fine for truck drivers using overweight trucks (more than 20,000 pounds over the allowed weight)

I'm also happy to say that we were granted Spaniard authority to our first in the nation Wade in Motion program in the recently passed state budget.

As everyone know, we did the first one around the BQE, made New York City the first one that is able to give a $650 fine to those truck drivers who are using overweight truck with more than 20,000 pounds of of what is allowed in their vehicle.

We are now authorized to use weight and motion on the BQE as well as eight additional bridges including the Queensborough, Manhattan and Willenberg Bridges.
