Good afternoon.
4:53:59
My name is Suhali Mendez.
4:54:01
I am the policy and legislative coordinator at New York Lawyers for the Public Interest.
4:54:07
And I am going to discuss things on the transportation front.
4:54:13
So, one thing I want to bring up is the green rights initiative.
4:54:17
We urge the council to encourage city taxi and limousine commission to meet with the MTA to determine congestion pricing can be utilized to assist TLC in carrying out the green rights initiative which requires all high volume for hire vehicles including Uber and Lyft to be either wheelchair accessible or zero emissions by 02/1930.
4:54:41
Further, NOPE recommends that this council urges TLC to amend and enhance its green rights initiative to require that all HVFHVs to be wheelchair accessible and zero emission by 02/1930 By permitting industry to choose between wheelchair accessible vehicles and zero emission vehicles, the transportation needs of the disability community will be at risk.
4:55:12
Through wheelchair accessibility vehicles, zero emission that are not currently available in The United States, the city can harness this immense market power to influence changes in this regard.
4:55:25
TLC must consult with vehicle manufacturers to encourage the design of a marketable wheelchair accessible vehicle, zero emission vehicle.
4:55:36
I realize I don't have much time, so additional information will be provided in testimony including fair fares, accessoride, and other recommendations.
