  • NYCHA expresses willingness to work on the Far Rockaway Trauma Center but requires a plan and funding before proceeding
  • Council Member Banks requests information on vacancy rates and maintenance backlogs for his district (Council District 31)
  • NYCHA representatives commit to providing district-specific data on vacant units and maintenance issues

I just have a couple of questions.
3:45:54
And this is from my colleague, Council Member Brooks, Far Rockaway Trauma Center.
3:46:01
I think this is something that was brought up at the last hearing.
3:46:06
So this is a follow-up question to that.
3:46:08
Since the preliminary budget hearing the mayor has established, is set to convene a working group on the Fall Rockaway Trauma Center in the coming weeks, This working group will be focused on the transfer of the NYCHA owned property to DCAS for trauma center.
3:46:29
Does NYCHA now commit to working with the MEAN administration to advance this land transfer?
3:47:08
So you're gonna get, but that's the same thing you said at the last.
3:47:17
Well the working group.
3:47:24
But NYCHA is a part of that working group, am I correct?
3:47:45
When it comes to the vacancy rate, under the proposed executive budget, how much funding has NYCHA allocated to spend speed up the turnover times for vacant units in Council District 31?
3:48:12
I think that's a question too that probably every council district that has NYCHA development.
3:48:18
Hopefully, can get that information to us.
3:48:22
And when it comes to repairs and maintenance, the backlog that exists under the proposed executive budget, how much funding has NYCHA allocated to address the backlog of maintenance requests, lead abatement, and mold remediation in Council District 31?
3:48:51
How
3:48:55
also too, I think again the same thing can be applied as far as all those council districts that do have the backlog is throughout the entire city.
3:49:07
So, but obviously for purposes of each council district I would definitely know to love to get that information as well.
3:49:15
Sure.
3:49:16
Of the 40 Second Council district.
3:49:20
Thank you.
Lisa Bova-Hiatt
3:46:36
Thank you for that question.
3:46:38
And as I said in March, we have been committed to working with the councilwoman on this project.
3:46:51
But in order to facilitate the section 18 process we need a plan that includes both funding and a provider.
3:47:03
And once we have that information we will start that process.
3:47:11
But we still don't have a plan or funding.
3:47:19
If the working group comes up with a plan and funding we are happy to start the process.
3:47:27
Brian are we a part of that working group?
3:47:29
We are not part of that working group.
3:47:32
We're of course always happy to be part of any working group.
3:47:33
Okay.
3:47:36
And we understand how important this trauma center is.
3:47:40
But we also have certain federal requirements that we must meet in order for us to start that process.
3:48:53
get back to you on that specific And
3:49:27
Thank you.
3:49:28
Thank you.
Annika Lescott-Martinez
3:48:04
In terms of your specific district, we will have to get back to you with any buildings that are included in the vacant unit readiness program.
3:48:42
Similarly, we certainly have the full amount that we allocate to the lead healthy homes mold and asbestos programs.
3:48:51
much?
3:48:51
But as to your district, we would have to
3:49:19
Happy to.
Justin Brannan
3:49:26
Okay, thank you very much.
3:49:30
Okay.
