  • The complex has over 200 open housing code violations, including a gaping hole in the lobby ceiling.
  • HPD has removed 1180 Park Hill Avenue from the corrective action list, which Hanks questions.
  • Tigani mentions a potential change in ownership that could allow for preservation work beyond just ERP repairs.

Thank you, chair.
1:52:06
Thank you, commissioner.

At 1180 Park Hill Avenue is part of the the larger Park Hill HUD housing complex, and and these residents are still dealing with inhumane conditions including, you know, a gaping hole in this in the lobby ceiling that continues to pour water into into a public space and also into, you know, residences' apartments.
1:52:32
Meanwhile, across the entire eight building complex, there are over there are still over 200 open housing code violations.
1:52:40
Despite this, HPD has currently removed one hundred and eight a hundred and eighty Park Hill from the corrective action list.
1:52:48
Can you explain the rationale for removing this property from the the corrective status given the ongoing invisible hazards and high volume of unresolved violations?
1:52:59
What criteria was used, and how is HPD ensuring real accountability and safe living conditions for these residents?
1:53:53
I appreciate that and for the record, and we wholeheartedly support the change of ownership that that previous owner should be in prison, honestly, for what they have done for decades upon decades of of having people living in these conditions.
1:54:09
Thank you.
Ahmed Tigani

So council member, first I'm gonna invite deputy commissioner Santiago to help me answer any questions on the enforcement side.
1:53:14
I will say that they filed for A and P reinspections which is the first step and we can continue to keep you up to date, but they will not if they have filed for reinspections and the issues have been corrected, then that's something that we'll move forward with.
1:53:32
If they haven't, those buildings continue to stay in the process.
1:53:35
Additionally, my understanding is that there has been or there's moving toward a change of ownership at the building which will allow us, we believe, to work with a preservation with a team where we have preservation dollars to work on making those repairs and do something more than just the ERP work.
