Council Member Lincoln Restler inquires about the Campaign Finance Board's (CFB) hiring process and its relationship with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
- CFB is not subject to OMB's two-for-one hiring limitations
- Unlike other city agencies, CFB does not need OMB approval for placing new hires
- The only delay in CFB's hiring process is the time needed for background checks and for new hires to give notice to their current employers
- This independence in hiring allows CFB to onboard staff more quickly and efficiently than other city agencies

Yes.

It's my understanding that other city agencies, and I I know former colleagues of mine who have gone through this process, other city agencies have to receive OMB approval to be placed at agencies.
3:40:18
We do not go through that process.

So when we are hiring the only time between us making an offer and someone getting in the door and filling that seat is the amount of time it takes them to give notice and for us to conduct the required background checks.
