Thank you, council member Salam.
1:50:42
Lastly, on the CUNY School of Medicine, I had the pleasure of visiting this campus.
1:50:49
You have a lot of gargoyles on the City College campus.
1:50:52
It was a little unnerving.
1:50:54
And if any of you are a nineties kid like me, you know the cartoon.
1:50:58
I don't think any of you are.
1:51:03
If you want to traumatize your kids, guess, sure.
1:51:07
I don't.
1:51:08
But one of their needs is a new build is their own building.
1:51:13
It just became an independent school.
1:51:14
It needs its own building and dorm.
1:51:16
Can you please update the committee on the status of the CUNY School of Medicine acquiring a build a space including a building and a dormitory?
1:52:44
But as of now, there's no location identified, anything like that?
1:53:02
Sure.
1:53:02
Although, and I'm not gonna say this about Gutman because I don't wanna get involved in any litigation, we do have room in the Bronx.
1:53:11
Don't do that, Councilwoman Brewer.
1:53:14
You know, part of Manhattan's on the Mainland, so maybe we can find some common ground.
1:53:19
It's called Marble Hill.
1:53:21
40 40 First Street.
1:53:23
So but but just to clarify, there's no there's no timeline for CUNY School of Medicine getting their own There's no
1:53:37
I think I heard council member Brewer just say The Bronx is fine.
1:53:41
Alright?
1:53:41
She's not protesting.
1:53:43
So very good.
1:53:45
Thank you.
1:53:45
I'm good.
1:53:46
Thank you.
Félix Matos Rodríguez
1:50:59
It's a place to take trick or treating around Halloween.
1:51:24
Well, thank you.
1:51:25
Thank you for your visit.
1:51:28
The School of Medicine is a great institution and we want to be fully supportive.
1:51:32
We've been working in their transition to an independent school.
1:51:35
That's what we've been more focused lately.
1:51:40
The team under CEO Batista and Vice Chancellor Atala has done a preliminary study about what how about the space needs that might be for an independent school in a building for the school.
1:51:55
So we're beginning to have that conversation.
1:51:58
Hoping that we can attract some philanthropic dollars given the uniqueness and the results of the mission.
1:52:07
So we are working on that arena.
1:52:10
Right now, we are working with the current allocation of space at CCNY.
1:52:17
And so we're very, very committed to them.
1:52:20
We got, again, 4,000,000 in the state budget which is not enough, right?
1:52:24
But we began to continue to make headway in that direction.
1:52:28
And many of the students there part of the take advantage of the dorm that City College has on campus.
1:52:37
In some of this attempt to get additional dollars, we'd be looking at potential to help the med school with some of those issues.
1:52:48
No.
1:52:49
There's no location.
1:52:49
I mean, obviously, we would love to find a site that would be entirely close to CCNY to keep the chemistry going, but that, you know, that'd be our next sort of ask coming down the pipeline to you.
1:53:30
The beginning is to do an assessment of their space needs, right, and then sort of put that on the pipeline of the work that we have.
1:53:36
So that's what we're doing now.
1:53:46
Thank you.
1:53:58
Thank you for your support.
1:53:59
Thank you.
1:54:00
Thank you.
Nantasha M. Williams
1:53:10
Oh, man.
Justin Brannan
1:53:48
Okay.
1:53:49
We've been joined also by council member Brooks Powers.
1:53:51
And I think with that, we're gonna close it out.
1:53:53
We appreciate your partnership and look forward to delivering a budget that delivers for CUNY.
