- FY 2025 budget for cash assistance is $2.65 billion, supporting 596,000 recipients through June 2025
- Additional funds were added in the executive budget ($78 million) and November plan ($92 million) for FY 2025
- In April, there were over 588,000 ongoing recipients and 7,401 one-time recipients
- Many ongoing assistance recipients also receive periodic emergency payments for rent arrears
- In FY 2024, HRA issued emergency rent payments to over 56,000 households

Although the one time recipients receive rent and utility arrears along with other benefits, it is important to note that many of our clients receiving ongoing assistance also periodically receive emergency payments for rent arrears so they can remain stably housed.
