June Andrews, who has worked in affordable housing in Harlem for over 32 years, strongly supports the One45 for Harlem project. She emphasizes the critical need for affordable housing in the community, especially in light of pandemic-related job losses and displacements.

  • The project offers community amenities such as community space, tech centers, and fresh food access.
  • It includes a fully affordable building with housing for a range of incomes, from very low to working New Yorkers.
  • The development will provide 1,200 jobs and over 900 units of housing, blending equity, community, and stability.

Hi.
2:05:07
This is June Andrews, and I have worked in the Harlem community for over thirty two years in affordable housing.
2:05:15
And as such, there is not enough affordable housing in the Harlem community, and more housing is needed.
2:05:22
Due to the pandemic, many jobs were lost, and people are still looking for jobs and have been displaced, evicted, and lost their homes.
2:05:29
The developer has often, in addition to affordable housing, amenities for our communities, such as community space and tech centers, which is much needed for our youth.
2:05:39
As you know, the the city is still facing food disparity, so the fresh food access is another important aspect to the community.
2:05:47
The proposal includes a fully affordable building that provides housing for a range of income from very low income individuals to working New Yorkers who have been priced out of the communities they serve.
2:06:00
This is the type of development I set our city desperately needs.
2:06:05
One that blends equity, community, stability, and provide 1,200 jobs and over 900 units of housing.
2:06:13
I strongly urge 100% support and ask the council to support the one forty five for Harlem project.

Thank you.
