Good afternoon.
5:05:24
I love being a closer.
5:05:26
My name is Adiba of Sharana and I'm the branch manager of the Bedford branch which reopened just twenty eight days ago after more than four years of closure.
5:05:37
In those years, aside from learning patience, I learned just how deeply our patrons value the library.
5:05:44
They love coming to story time, having a place to study, getting book recommendations, and as you heard from our teens, they love having a space of their own.
5:05:52
One patron shared that although she may move from apartment to apartment, the library where she learned to love to read, where she brought her daughter every week and now brings her grandchild, might look a little newer, but the feeling of home has always, always stayed the same.
5:06:09
We are proud to be back, and our community is so happy to have us back.
5:06:14
That's why I'm asking you to meet Brooklyn Public Library's forty four point eight million dollars in unmet expense needs.
5:06:21
Without this investment, it would feel to many like the branch never truly reopened.
5:06:27
Meeting these needs, staffing, programming, utilities allows us to sustain the vibrant intergenerational connection we have with our community.
5:06:37
It ensures that future generations grow up knowing that no matter how the city changes, their local library will always have a place and a program for them.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
