In the council's preliminary budget response, we called for addition of 65,000,000 in capital funding to expand the emergency room at Metropolitan Hospital, which was not included in the executive capital plan.

We are talking to OMB, and I think they understand and recognize council member Ayala, who's been such a great supporter of MET in so many ways.

The MET emergency department, somewhat like the Elmhurst emergency department, are both way undersized for the volume of patients that they're currently taking care of.

And so you cannot provide the level of confidentiality, the level of infection control, because people are just too close to one another.

In the case of MET, we have a specific plan about how we would modernize that ED.
