1:18:36
Sure.
1:18:37
Well, I can only tell you the principles of how how I intend to do it, and because I can't really plan without a number.
1:18:45
Right?
1:18:45
I have to have a number of what I'm planning for.
1:18:48
Fair.
1:18:48
But I think I can have principles of how I would go about dealing with a cut as devastating as this one.
1:18:57
So to the first part of your question, the health and hospitals that I came to had a lot of empty hospitals, a lot of services that were losing large amounts of money.
1:19:10
That is not today's reality.
1:19:12
Today's reality
Lincoln Restler
1:19:13
Well, I just wanna say, at the time, health and hospitals was perceived as the single greatest threat, risk, vulnerability to the city budget.
Mitchell Katz
1:19:21
Right.
Lincoln Restler
1:19:22
And we no longer talk about that.
1:19:23
It's a it's such a distant memory that people don't even remember it because your leadership of the institution.
Mitchell Katz
1:19:29
Right.
1:19:29
So we now are so successful at billing insurance, not patients, we're not interested in billing patients, we're interested in billing insurance that the, I start by saying, you know, I have a poorly performing low volume service that's costing me more because I've been working on it and I do every day.
1:19:53
I hear this practice is under, like today I was looking at a practice where I had to say I want this doctor to work over here instead of here because there'll be more patients over here, not enough volume over here.
1:20:08
So there just isn't that reality anymore.
1:20:12
So then what I would say is so the principle we will stay a system that provides a single standard to everybody.
1:20:21
Because I feel that's what distinguishes us.
1:20:24
If we weren't that, then we would be just like every other system.
1:20:27
We would just be looking for money as the way to figure out what to cut.
