- Health + Hospitals could lose hundreds of millions of dollars in funding
- New York State could face $13-15 billion in Medicaid cuts
- The cuts could lead to hospital closures, service reductions, healthcare worker layoffs, and millions losing health coverage

Could you share an estimate with us on the loss of Medicaid funding to New York?
Mitchell Katz
1:14:17
To New York?
1:14:18
Well, I'll tell you what what I know about health and hospitals.
1:14:21
Right.
1:14:22
So health and hospitals, we're in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
1:14:27
Right?
Lincoln Restler
1:14:27
The reason I wanted
Mitchell Katz
1:14:28
to just 300,000,000.
Lincoln Restler
1:14:30
I apologize for interrupting.
1:14:31
I just wanted to take a somewhat broader perspective.
1:14:34
You know, it's been reported that we're talking about 13 plus
Justin L. Brannan
1:14:37
Right.
Lincoln Restler
1:14:37
Billion dollars in cuts to Medicaid funding statewide.
Mitchell Katz
1:14:41
Statewide.
Lincoln Restler
1:14:42
Is that is that consistent with what you've you understand?
1:14:45
Yeah.
John Ulberg
1:14:46
Governor put out a a set of numbers.
Lincoln Restler
1:14:48
13 and a half.
John Ulberg
1:14:48
13 and a half.
1:14:49
I think yep.
Lincoln Restler
1:14:50
There were some changes this morning that made things even So $13.14, $15,000,000,000 in cuts to Medicaid.
1:14:59
And if which will lead to hospitals potentially closing, gutting service areas, nursing homes closing, tens of thousands of health care workers being laid off, millions of New Yorkers losing their health care, thousands of people dying unnecessarily.
1:15:16
Right?
1:15:16
I I there's not I I can't be any more alarmist in the language that I'm using because of just how devastating this this legislation would be for our communities.
1:15:28
But what we all know is that when more people lose their health care coverage, they depend on health and hospitals.
1:15:36
Right?
1:15:36
So in a world in which more New Yorkers are losing access to the essential plan, more New Yorkers are losing access to Medicaid, more New Yorkers are uninsured, you will be losing hundreds of millions of dollars in direct funding, and at the same time, be expected to serve more New Yorkers.
1:15:53
Is that the right expectation?
Mitchell Katz
1:15:55
You have it right.
1:15:56
I don't see it as an alarmist.
1:15:58
I think that's an accurate portrayal.
