Council Member Avilés highlights significant challenges and concerns in the current legal service provision for immigrants, emphasizing the increased complexity and resource constraints.
- Existing cases have become more complex due to changes in federal policies
- Full representation is now needed instead of light pro se assistance
- Legal service providers are overwhelmed with high caseloads
- Supervision structures are weakening due to decreased resources
- The amount of funding provided by the city is insufficient for nonprofits to meet the current demands

So so 100%, I just don't I guess I'd like to dive in later on about like is is there real capacity building there because from what we're understanding what's happening on the ground now is everybody is completely underwater and because of decreased resources supervision structures are weakening.

People have too much caseload.

And those have been and the service, the amount of money that the city is offering to nonprofits is not sufficient by any stretch of imagination.
