  • The department explains that civilian vacancies are fluid due to retirements and transfers to other agencies
  • DOC reports that over 152 individuals are currently in various stages of the hiring process for civilian positions
  • Key areas with high civilian vacancies include facility maintenance, the division of programs and community partnerships, and health affairs (particularly for cooks in nutritional services)

Okay.
0:26:12
So as of March, we can see that there were around 244 vacant civilian positions.
0:26:18
Is that number still accurate or or have any of those been filed?

As you well know, the vacancies in civilians are very fluid.
0:26:26
You always have onboarding of civilian staff and those that retired or also moved to other agencies.
0:26:35
We still have approximately two fifty vacancies.

However So

you have more than you had in March.
Francis Torres

Yes, because of people either moving to different agencies or retiring.

The good thing is, and I would like to put that positive spin as we come to you this morning, is that currently we have over 152 different persons that are being onboarded by our department, and so they are in different stages of the hiring process.
0:27:11
Meaning some of them are still being vetted by our agency while others are being approved by OMB.
