- NYPD reports a 42% increase in truck and trailer overnight parking summons year-to-date.
- Chief of Transportation Obe offers to visit the council member's district to assess the problem and implement towing measures.
- The discussion briefly touches on the CURE violence program and its collaboration with the NYPD before returning to the parking issue.

And chairs, if I could just ask one final question if that's okay.
1:11:26
So our our districts, particularly in Southeast Queens, and I'm sure this is happening citywide quite honestly, are being inundated with commercial vehicles, parking being parked illegally overnight with many repeat offenders.
1:11:41
Law enforcement has the ability to issue the maximum penalty when issuing tickets to stop the behavior.
1:11:47
Can we understand how come that's not happening?
Jessica Tisch
1:11:51
Do we have transportation here?
1:11:57
Or do you do you wanna take that too?
Michael Lipetri
1:11:58
I was gonna take cure.
Jessica Tisch
1:12:00
Oh, Let him do cure violence.
1:12:02
Sorry.
1:12:02
We skipped that, and then we'll answer your
Selvena N. Brooks-Powers
1:12:04
transportation questions.
1:12:05
Go ahead.
Michael Lipetri
1:12:05
Yes.
1:12:06
Chief Michael Petrie, the chief of crime control strategies.
1:12:09
So approximately a year ago, the ceasefire program, the NYPD ceasefire program, was moved into crime control strategies.
1:12:16
And as you know, ceasefire and cure work hand in hand.
1:12:19
So my office working with the mayor's office of criminal justice, I share data with cure.
1:12:25
You know, we we give them data as far as shots fired incidents, shooting incidents.
1:12:31
We also provide them with intelligence.
1:12:33
So when get intelligence of a possible retaliatory shooting involving crews in New York City, we reach out to CURE, we give them this information.
1:12:43
So it is a very good relationship.
1:12:45
I've worked personally and my office has worked personally with CURE from the inception.
1:12:50
And we will continue to do that.
Selvena N. Brooks-Powers
1:12:52
Thank you.
Justin Brannan
1:12:53
You're welcome.
1:12:55
Jeriselaw.
Olufunmilola Obe
1:12:59
Good morning Centimeters.
1:13:00
Good morning.
1:13:01
Could you just repeat the question about
Selvena N. Brooks-Powers
1:13:03
Sure, thank you for that.
1:13:05
So I was focusing on the inundation of commercial vehicles parking illegally overnight and oftentimes there's a lot of repeat offenders and so law enforcement has the ability to issue the maximum penalty when issuing tickets, but we haven't seen that happening.
1:13:24
So we wanted to understand why that doesn't happen.
Olufunmilola Obe
1:13:27
Okay.
1:13:28
So one of the things we started to do is work very closely in some of the districts of some of the council members here.
1:13:34
So we'll reach out and we'll certainly visit you and your staff just to see what the problem is and we'll be able to tow.
1:13:41
Think that's actually better than even Asian summons.
1:13:43
So we'll do that work for you.
Arisleyda Estrella-Skinner
1:13:44
That'll be great.
Jessica Tisch
1:13:45
I would just add that year to date as of April 30, truck and trailer overnight parking summons has increased by over 42%.
1:13:56
This is an area that we are definitely focused on.
1:13:59
It also overlaps with the work that we're doing with our new quality of life division.
1:14:04
So maybe we can all sit down and discuss how we can directly address the issues that you are seeing in your district.
1:14:12
I know you're always very clear about what they are.
1:14:14
Thank you.
Justin Brannan
1:14:16
Okay.
1:14:16
We've also been joined by council members Joseph and Hudson, and now I'm gonna give it back to Chair Salam.
1:14:22
Thank you.
