I think that when you look not just at my career, which is a through line of service to New Yorkers, especially the most vulnerable, you can also see that I was one of those fortunate people whose parents chose to come to New York City as a beacon of hope from Ecuador.

And I was lucky enough to be born and raised in one of the best boroughs, the borough of Queens.

And I am fortunate that I get to continue to raise my family in that borough.

But I'm also, painfully aware of how expensive it is to continue to live in this city.

So this serving on this commission is for me an opportunity to make sure that the generations that come after us, including my children, can continue to call this great city home.
