And we are here in New York City celebrating its four hundredth anniversary to take a fresh look at our city's governing charter.

We want to really think about how we can provide the charter to make sure that it's an effective tool for building a more exclusive New York and more affordable New York.

As folks know, it is a commission responsibility to review the prior charter and and to suggest changes to the vote for the bonus consideration.

The recommendations we make are recommendations.

Only the changes that the police have reached it will go into a better.

And I know that my fellow commissioners, and I say that we are truly committed to hearing from broad spectrum of New Yorkers and pursuing the best ideas we can find.

This is one of several public hearings we're gonna have in every borough, and our hope is to hear the experts, community leaders, elected officials, and indeed any member of the public who wishes to testify.

In making our recommendation to the city voters, we are bound only by our judgment and our values.
