Chair Richard R. Buery Jr. asks Steve Levin if he envisions potential charter changes that could streamline development processes for housing projects offering public benefits, such as high energy efficiency or integrated renewable energy like solar arrays.

Levin responds enthusiastically, stating Solar One strongly supports integrating renewable energy into all development, especially affordable housing, and mentions their existing engagement with HPD on solar programs for new affordable projects.

Councilman, one of the things that we've been talking about just again, related to housing is potentially having processes that make it easier for certain kind of development, particularly, housing that is either of limited scope or that is, largely affordable.

And I'm wondering if you could imagine a regime that might have similar, benefits for housing that is extremely energy affordable or that involves, have built in renewable energy like solar arrays.
0:43:55
I'm wondering if that's if that's something you've thought about or looked into.

I have another I have another thing that might, allow you to have a more streamlined process, by providing some sort of public benefits such as, supporting renewable energy or supporting the energy grid.
Steve Levin

Well, we think that that would be great.
0:44:17
You know, part of Solar One's mission is to get is to deploy renewable energy in a distributed way, meaning have it out there on every rooftop in the city and make it as, noncentralized as possible because that's the great resource that we have in New York City is, you our available rooftop space.
0:44:37
And so where there's new development, we think that that makes a whole lot of sense.
0:44:40
We engage really closely with HPD on their solar refusal program.
0:44:44
So when there's a new affordable development, we we engage with that and, with with, major capital projects, major capital improvements.
0:44:53
But, yes, everything to answer your question, I think that that would be something we would be very supportive of.
0:44:57
And then we would be supportive of it with affordable housing as well, of course.
