Commissioner Grace C. Bonilla commends the staff for the cost analysis provided and requests further examination of the financial implications of various proposals.

She specifically asks for analysis on the current costs of not having a unified city map and the economic impact on the nonprofit sector's workforce, who also face housing affordability challenges.

Executive Director Alec Schierenbeck agrees to explore providing more detailed cost-benefit information as proposals are refined.

  • Bonilla suggests quantifying the cost savings or current expenses related to the city's fragmented map system.
  • She highlights the need to consider the housing needs and economic pressures on nonprofit employees, who are essential service providers.
  • Schierenbeck confirms staff will endeavor to provide more detailed financial assessments of proposals, ensuring intellectual honesty.

Great.

One of the things that I really appreciate, thank you to your team for all the work, is the cost analysis on some of these proposals.
0:46:38
I am wondering if we could do a little bit more of that.
0:46:42
This one map, for example, it seems pretty simple, but what's the cost to the city, or what's the cost right now of not having one?
0:46:52
That would be great to know.
0:46:54
I would say the same thing for the nonprofit sector.
0:46:56
I think we, we've heard enough testimony of the unintended consequences to the end user.
0:47:04
But some of the things that we haven't really laid out as far as financing is and cost of living is the workforce in the nonprofit sector who I think would also benefit from housing.
0:47:17
So this is a an interesting ecosystem and acknowledging the number of New Yorkers that work in the nonprofit sector, how they are priced out as well while we're asking them to be essential workers and do service, I think, is a good argument for us to put out to New Yorkers that sometimes they are just not aware of.

Mhmm.

Thanks.

Thank you.

And just on that point, we can certainly, as more detailed proposals are developed, do a better job within, you know, the realm of intellectual honesty and integrity and soundness, try to to size the costs and benefits of these proposals.

And I just wanna if we go back to affordability right.
0:47:54
We talk about affordability and how we wanna get to a place where we have we bring down the cost of housing, because we are increasing the supply.
0:48:02
Everybody gets that.
