Council Member Amanda Farias inquires about the current functionality and expansion progress of shore power infrastructure at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. The discussion covers full utilization of shore power by ships, the number of available hookups, and progress towards the 2035 goal for ship retrofits. The implementation of a mobile jib system by the end of 2024 is highlighted as a key step towards increasing the terminal's capacity to accommodate more ships, specifically addressing community concerns and ensuring the MSC Meramellia's connectivity.

So just if we can recap, what's the current status of SurePower Infrastructure at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in terms of its full functionality being utilized by ships for SurePower capacity, how many actual hookups exist, and how close are we to that 2035 ship retrofits that we spoke about.

Thank you, Terrafatias.
1:14:50
So at Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, the shore power system is functioning fully.
1:14:57
What we need to do and what we are committed in doing is expanding its capability.
1:15:02
Again, because it is not a universal standard as these ships come online, as they are retrofitted, as they are more capable, we need to create flexibility within that system.
1:15:12
And that is what is currently underway.
1:15:14
The mobile Jib is this system that is being implemented and will be fully functioning by the end of 2024 to expand its ability to connect to more ships that are docking a Brooklyn cruise terminal.
Speaker 1
1:15:28
And that's not a flexible goalpost.
Speaker 7
1:15:30
That is not a flexible goalpost.
1:15:32
That is that will be in place by the end of this calendar year.
1:15:38
As a part of that, that is the first step.
1:15:41
The the one piece that I wanna get out in front of is we have heard the community loud and clear.
1:15:47
We are so grateful to the community for and and to council member of Elis for raising the concerns.
1:15:55
We understand that MSC, being one of the largest ships, that has doctor Brooklyn Cruz Terminal, That is a temporary location.
1:16:03
They are set to move over to Manhattan.
1:16:08
But while it is there, we understand that community wants to see that ship connect.
1:16:13
So that mobile Jib that will be complete by the end of 2024 is the first step in allowing us to add additional capacity to add the cable positioning that's needed, to connect to the MSC Meramellia ship.
Speaker 1
1:16:33
Great.
1:16:33
Thank you so much.
1:16:37
K.
1:16:37
Just answering my timeline question of expansion.
