The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) uses job analysis to determine which job titles qualify for the bridge exam, based on common knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • The exam development process begins with job analysis to assess key knowledge, skills, and abilities of job titles.
  • Job analysis leads to the development of test questions that identify commonalities among titles, facilitating their inclusion in the bridge exam.
  • Titles too specific and not aligning with the bridge exam's criteria are excluded.
  • This process also considers qualifications, aligned salaries, and the feasibility of including titles under the bridge exam scheme.

So when we're talking about the bridge exam, the bridge exams, often cover the same content for qualifications for multiple titles.
0:37:06
How does decast make the determination of which titles can be tested with the bridge exam?
0:37:10
As opposed to related tires titles that require applicants to take a specific test.
Katrina Porter
0:37:17
So the exam development process starts with a job in analysis.
0:37:21
So that's when we take a look at the key knowledge skills and abilities of each title to determine where, you know, where there's correlation.
0:37:30
And then we use that to develop test questions.
0:37:32
But I do want to hand it over to the expert, assistant commissioner Rob Alexander.
0:37:37
He can give you a deeper dive into the process.
Rob Alexander
0:37:42
Thank you.
0:37:43
Hey, folks.
0:37:44
Thank you, Cher.
0:37:45
As you said, it's it's about comparability.
0:37:47
Right?
0:37:47
So the first bridge in FY22 To kick it off, we did look at what was similar.
0:37:51
We already looked at qualifications that were kind of aligned, salaries that were sort of aligned, and then in the world of multiple choice testing.
0:37:58
We we didn't sure.
0:37:58
We weren't sure what we would get to.
0:38:00
So we did a job analysis on all the titles and developed the test based on what's common amongst it's much easier to define that commonality when titles are sort of similar.
0:38:08
As you kind of see that by 23, we had a little bit more commonality amongst those titles.
0:38:13
And we just keep building amongst that commonality, bringing them in, see what's common, and then push them out.
Carmen De La Rosa
0:38:18
Okay.
0:38:19
And if you determine that a specific title doesn't fit in that mix, Are you then
Rob Alexander
0:38:24
They they would then be hold out.
0:38:25
If if it had to be tested specifically not every title or every position is is right for a bridge, So it would be pulled out if it was too specific to fit within the bridge.
Carmen De La Rosa
0:38:33
Okay.
0:38:33
That makes sense.
0:38:35
Okay.
0:38:35
Thank you for answering that question.
