Garrett requests a 1% increase in the NYC Parks Department budget to provide proper maintenance for nature preserves like the one near her home in Brooklyn.
- She volunteers to watch over and alert Parks staff about issues at the nature preserve near her home
- The preserve needs signage to indicate it is a bird sanctuary where people should not walk
- Increased funding would allow Parks to better maintain and protect natural areas like this wetland preserve

Okay.
7:50:57
Good afternoon, everybody.
7:50:58
Thanks for having me on.
7:51:00
I'm here from Kenasi Brooklyn, and I also with New York is for parks and the park coalition.
7:51:09
I'm here to speak about having that 1% increase I mean, budget and and for the budget for the 2020 years, I'll live over here by the Nature Preserve and I would like to see this pant area preserved is a wet land forever while.
7:51:26
We do not have the proper maintenance on a yearly basis.
7:51:30
Because the parks department don't have the lamp power as a a hockey and a act advocate for the parks.
7:51:40
I maintain and watch over this area on a daily basis.
7:51:45
When anything goes wrong, I make sure you know, I alert the parks department and let them come out and help to keep it clean.
7:51:54
So I would like to have that money those that 1% restored.
7:52:00
So this way, the parts department could work a little bit more at this preserve.
7:52:05
Also, we need signage to let people know that this is a place that no one could walk on.
7:52:13
Because it's for the bird.
7:52:14
It's a bird sanctuary.
7:52:15
It's for ever a while.
7:52:17
So I would like to have that those ones that 1% increase.
7:52:23
I can't say it enough, and thank you for your time.
7:52:26
And listen to me.
7:52:27
Thank you.
