Council Member Restler engages in a Q&A session with project representatives, covering various aspects of the Olive Myrtle rezoning project. The discussion includes confirmation of the project option, community benefits, tenant considerations, and sustainability features.

  • Confirmation that the project will pursue Option 1
  • Discussion about providing space for a local non-profit organization
  • Assurance that current tenants will have the opportunity to return to the new housing
  • Exploration of the project's green elements, including compliance with all-electric building laws and sustainability features

I have just 2 quick 3 quick questions.
1:00:04
1 is we'll be pursuing option 1 for this project.
1:00:08
Want to make sure you're aware.
Richard Lobel
1:00:10
Thank you for making us aware of that.
1:00:12
We understand the community board's preference and and extent the council members.
Lincoln Restler
1:00:16
You've worked with me before.
Richard Lobel
1:00:17
Of course, Link.
Lincoln Restler
1:00:19
They some things don't change.
1:00:21
Secondly, we spoke with Rabbi Littendine and Missus Littendine about the feasibility of a windowless room, either at the basement level or ground floor level being made available for a local non organization in the community, potentially, like I said, which does amazing work in Williamsburg.
1:00:38
Just wanna make sure that that's something that the applicant is is supportive of in on the record.
UNKNOWN
1:00:42
Yes.
1:00:43
That's correct.
Lincoln Restler
1:00:43
Terrific.
1:00:44
And then there are tenants who currently live on these lots.
1:00:50
As needed, they will be provide an opportunity to return to the housing that's built here if they do not have alternative housing.
Neil Weisbard
1:00:57
That is correct.
Lincoln Restler
1:00:58
And I'd said 3, but I'm gonna do 4 because I'm on a roll.
1:01:01
Could you just speak to any green elements of this development?
1:01:04
Is it subject to the all electric buildings?
1:01:06
Law?
1:01:07
Or do you anticipate it will be subject to that depending, I guess, on the timeline for construction and any other elements for sustainability that you'll prioritize on this project?
Kevin Williams
1:01:16
Yeah.
1:01:17
Kevin Williams, GCA.
1:01:18
Consumema, we're good to see you.
1:01:20
Yeah.
1:01:20
So it will be all electric.
1:01:22
I think the the build year will make it required.
1:01:26
In terms of sustainability elements, of course, we'll be restoring tree pits swales along the the frontage sidewalk area, which is wide in this area.
1:01:36
We'll have green roof system or or combined green roof solar system on the roof system, you know, in compliance with with the latest requirements of local law.
1:01:48
Again, I think one of the things that we constantly recommended to the architects and developers for projects not only in Brooklyn, but throughout the city, is that they apply for the very generous grants for the heightened energy star requirements from Nyserta because there are tax incentives associated with those.
1:02:05
And I, you know, I believe that the both the architect and the developer property owner have agreed to those requirements.
Lincoln Restler
1:02:12
Well, I really wanna thank to Riley for the point of privilege.
1:02:14
Thank you all for this good project, and look forward to the presentation.
