Good afternoon.
6:24:16
My name is Daniel Teachout.
6:24:18
I'm a longtime resident of Inwood and Carmen De LaRosa's, my council member.
6:24:25
I'm a 20 year monthly supporter of the ASPCA.
6:24:30
I have a cat colony that I maintain in Inwood, and across the fence is a dangerous dog that recently killed a young cat that I had never seen.
6:24:41
I filed 2311 reports and had a strong discussion with the owner.
6:24:49
This is an ongoing daily concern to say the least.
6:24:53
I am certified as a TNR person in 2020, my mother-in-law took in a pregnant feral cat.
6:24:59
And when it came time to vet and stay a nootter, I was horrified by the cost.
6:25:06
I was unemployed because of the pandemic.
6:25:09
I reached out to rest group groups, but they were buried with requests.
6:25:13
1 group, Kitty Kine, got one of my kittens adopted, and I thanked them.
6:25:19
Finally, the federal pandemic insurance fund kicked in and I was able to spay and neuter all of the cats.
6:25:27
I don't I don't know what I would have done except gone into that.
6:25:30
I I don't know why.
6:25:32
Here we are 4 years later with a few low cost spay and neuter options available The effort a person needs to go through to help to stop this endless cycle of misery is almost impossible.
6:25:45
It should not be so difficult to do the right thing.
6:25:49
We created this problem and we certainly can fix it.
6:25:54
Thank you.
