Council Member Hudson inquires about stakeholder participation and the progress of the Community Care Plan. Commissioner Cortés-Vázquez outlines the various meetings and collaborations involved in the plan's implementation:

  • Monthly meetings with directors of older adult centers and NORCs
  • Quarterly cabinet meetings with 24+ agencies
  • Monthly subcommittee meetings focusing on specific aspects like transportation, health, and worker training

Additional details:

  • The implementation is described as on track, though not fully satisfying all desired outcomes
  • Key focus areas include support for daily life activities at home and transportation
  • The commissioner notes that while progress has been made, particularly in transportation, there's a need for more collaboration from external partners like the MTA

I think you answered part of it.
0:28:05
As far as, like, meetings, priorities that are identified, is that just done by NYC Aging, or are there other stakeholders that participate in that process?
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:28:18
The well, there's the local meetings that the older adult centers and the Nords do on their own and their community engagement.
0:28:27
I host, as you you you are aware of, I host a monthly meeting with all of the directors.
0:28:33
To talk about where we're going and and or things that we need to be mindful of.
0:28:39
And then there's a cabinet meetings where the the 24 agencies Right.
0:28:44
With your addition.
0:28:45
I would think there's, like, 3 more of it there.
0:28:48
There's more cabinet members, and look and we're constantly those committees are held as quarterly, but then we have the subcommittees which meet monthly and start talking about progress.
0:29:00
So it's something that we're all looking at from this different perspectives, whether it's transportation, whether it's health, whether it's training of workers, whether it's training on ageism in the board of education.
0:29:13
But we're looking at it against this big plan that everything is about keeping people in their homes.
Crystal Hudson
0:29:18
Okay.
0:29:18
And then would you say the implementation of the plan is on track?
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:29:26
Yeah.
0:29:27
It is.
0:29:28
Am I is it satisfying everything that we wanted to satisfy, probably not.
0:29:34
And I know I'm not supposed to say that in that.
Crystal Hudson
0:29:36
Definitely appreciate your honesty.
Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez
0:29:38
But because if I more home care is, you know, we need more home care, that is that is there are 2 linchpins that I always think about a community care plan.
0:29:48
Right?
0:29:48
And that's my lived experience, is if you get support in the home for those daily life activities, and then you get transportation that goes a long way.
0:29:58
In the community here.
0:30:00
We've addressed those as best as we can.
0:30:03
And frankly, I think the transportation 1, we've addressed quite well.
0:30:09
But we need our partners at the MTA to do what they need to do with accessoride, and we need all of our partners to put in their share.
0:30:16
So that when you say was it totally realized, no.
0:30:19
There are more things that could be done by some of our other external partners.
