Council Member Gale Brewer introduces and explains Intro 1048, a bill aimed at addressing siren noise pollution in New York City. The bill directs the Department of Environmental Protection to conduct a study on siren noise levels and establish channels for residents to submit complaints.
- The study will identify areas with the highest levels of siren noise, peak times of occurrence, and propose measures for reducing noise.
- DEP will set up a toll-free number and web page for residents to submit complaints during the study.
- The goal is to gather data to understand and mitigate the impact of siren noise while maintaining effective emergency response.

Intro 1048 is what I'm discussing.

One of the biggest complaints that we all get, at least I get a siren noise pollution.

Yet there's no way for people to file a proper complaint or for the city to gather data on this problem.

So 1048 directs the Department of Environmental Protection and related agency to conduct a study to identify areas with highest levels of siren noise levels, peak times of occurrence, and proposed measures for reducing this noise.

DEP will also establish a toll free number and dedicated web page for residents to submit complaints during the study and report findings.

Hopefully, this will have crucial data to understand and mitigate the impact of siren noise in our community and an effective emergency response.
