Council Members Selvena N. Brooks-Powers and Shekar Krishnan ask follow-up questions about the ongoing charges drivers face and their current account status with ride-hailing platforms. The drivers provide more details about their situations and frustrations.

  • One driver explains that the monthly charges were for IDG dues, which were supposed to help with reactivation but didn't
  • Another driver mentions being currently locked out of the Lyft app, unable to work
  • The discussion highlights the ongoing issues drivers face with deactivation and lack of recourse

And just for my own clarification, when you say your card is in charge each month, are you talking about your union dues, or are you talking what what are you referring to when you say that your card is being charged?
Dennis Addison
2:38:28
Yeah.
2:38:28
It's a it's a due that they say that you in order for them to help you, have to give them your credit card information for them to charge for for you to pay them every given month.
2:38:40
I I assume that's what it is.
2:38:41
But they didn't make it clear after 6 months.
2:38:45
I said, and I can't continue because every time I go to them, they're not telling me anything.
2:38:50
I go to the office when I call them or they put me on hold or whatever the case may be, they're not clear to me what's what.
2:38:56
And then when I get irate and go down to the office, not being rude to them, irate because I'm upset that you're taking my money but not helping me.
2:39:05
You say you're gonna help me to reactivate my account, nothing.
Shekar Krishnan
2:39:10
And so you're still not reactivated?
2:39:11
No.
2:39:12
No.
2:39:12
And so so you had to say what your experience was?
UNKNOWN
2:39:16
Yes.
2:39:16
I never went the IG process because it was widely known that IG the IDG was funded by Uber.
2:39:25
So a lot of people, you know, don't trust them because it's like you're knocking on deaf ears.
2:39:30
You know?
2:39:31
And as far as the the activation is concerned, even right now, I wanna work.
2:39:40
When I go on my Lyft app, I can't work because I'm locked out.
2:39:48
This is what happens every single day to all of these drivers.
2:39:52
We're locked out all day long.
2:39:56
And they turn or so on whenever they want to
Saifal
2:39:58
Mhmm.
UNKNOWN
2:39:59
Even though they called us partners.
2:40:03
Thank you.
Selvena N. Brooks-Powers
2:40:06
Thank you to this panel.
2:40:07
We'll call the next panel up.
2:40:10
Yoden, Odin, Desmond, West, Latif, Ajala, Josh Gold, alpha Barry.
2:41:10
Anthony, I Ibozzo, Frank Haley, Shahaluddin and Carmen Cruz.
2:41:27
And again, for those who are praying, we'll just come back to those names afterwards.
