The discussion centers on who is responsible for monitoring AI tools from ideation to deployment. Alex Foard explains OTI's plans for developing an ongoing monitoring process.
- The principles expect all city agencies to be involved in monitoring AI tools
- OTI has a commitment in the action plan for year 2 to develop an ongoing monitoring process
- Agencies are primarily responsible for their own technology solutions, including AI

And so in in this same sentence, the city refers when the city is referenced as also carefully monitoring AI tools from ideation to deployment to ensure that those tools are performing reliably again.
0:38:41
That's not OTI when referring to the city.
Alex Foard
0:38:44
So, again, the principles are expected to be used by any and all city agencies.
0:38:49
We do have a commitment in the action plan for year 2 to build out what's called an ongoing monitoring process.
0:38:55
That's policy that's under development.
Jennifer Gutiérrez
0:38:58
Yeah.
0:38:58
Yeah.
0:38:58
Yeah.
0:38:58
Yeah.
0:38:59
Okay.
0:39:02
Who's responsible?
Alex Foard
0:39:05
Responsible for which piece?
Jennifer Gutiérrez
0:39:08
Validity and reliability, specifically agency to agency it's you're telling me it's it's up to the agency.
Alex Foard
0:39:14
So agencies again are responsible for their For
Jennifer Gutiérrez
0:39:17
AI, but I'm talking about just AI solutions.
Alex Foard
0:39:19
So in many cases, AI solutions follow the same pathways, non AI solutions.
0:39:23
When you talk a lot about a lot of the the tech that may be brought into bear for for an agency to use.
0:39:31
Again, there are existing processes.
0:39:33
Many different sort of oversight or review processes that come into play that apply to all technology, including AI.
0:39:41
In terms of understanding the gap, right, what is needed for AI specifically, that's what our commitment in the action plan is to build out those processes.
0:39:48
And so any AI AI solution that's, you know, under under review for for an agency to review or to consider, I should say, they will still need to do all of the things that they would normally need to do for technology.
