Great.
2:17:48
For interim 8:30, it contemplates that the department will work with national experts to create these investigator trainings.
2:17:53
I know that there were some questions about this.
2:17:58
Can I say, yeah, when national experts on preventing and investigating sexual assault is the department already in contact What are their names?
Christopher Marte
2:18:06
I'm sorry.
2:18:07
I didn't hear the whole question.
Tiffany Cabán
2:18:08
I'm sorry.
2:18:08
Can you repeat the question?
2:18:10
So intro 8:30, it contemplates that the department would work with national experts to create investigator trainings.
2:18:15
Right?
2:18:16
Like, that is what the the bill calls for.
2:18:18
SO I'M WONDERING IN THIS MOMENT ALREADY WHAT NATIONAL EXPERTS ON PREVENTING AND INVESTIGATING SEXUAL ASSAULT IS THE DEPARTMENT ALREADY IN CONTACT WITH.
2:18:26
WHAT ARE THE NAMES?
Lynelle Maginley-Liddie
2:18:28
SO WE WORK WITH NIC, NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON CORRECTIONS, I as I mentioned earlier, there's a there's a training that the Bureau of Justice Assistance is rolling out that we've been working with as well.
2:18:42
Okay.
2:18:42
One of our members will be part of an inaugural training It's a 14 week training.
2:18:48

Tiffany Cabán
2:18:55

2:18:56

2:19:00

Chaplain Dr. Victoria Phillips
2:19:08
I think NIC is.
2:19:09

Valerie Greisokh
2:19:11
I'm sorry.
2:19:12
Could you please re repeat the question?
Tiffany Cabán
2:19:16
Who what national experts on preventing and investigating sexual assault is the Department of Corrections in contact with.
2:19:22
And of those organizations, are any of them queer organizations?
Valerie Greisokh
2:19:28
I'm not certain about training, but I do wanna emphasize size as a department, part of our priorities and goals is to partner with organizations specifically serve the LGBTQ plus community.
Tiffany Cabán
2:19:39
Again, you're you're, like, you're taking I'm giving you a very specific question, but as yes or no, you were throwing it away and then just throwing out like a really big broad blanket statement, and it's it's not a sufficient answer.
2:19:50
So I'm just gonna put that out there.
2:19:53
I'm but I I just wanna end by saying that I really do get very, very frustrated at a lot of the things that we hear in these hearings.
2:20:03
But if ever there was a single piece of testimony, to pinpoint and ground the problem that we are facing that is the subject of this hearing is to hear that Inappropriate sexual behavior and relationships.
2:20:30
Speak for themselves goes without saying we already know.
2:20:33
We don't have to be told.
2:20:35
That is the kind of mentality and lack of structure and support and services that ensures that people will continue to endure the kind of abuse that they are experiencing in custody right now.
2:20:49
And I I I thought that was particularly important.
2:20:53
Thank you, chair.
Sandy Nurse
2:20:56
Thank you, council member, Kevan, council member, Narcis.
