Council Member Joann Ariola seeks clarification on the discrepancy between reported response times for life-threatening calls. Rebecca Mason from FDNY explains the difference between two separate metrics used in reporting.
- The Mayor's Management Report (MMR) includes two different response time metrics
- One metric combines response times for both ambulances and CFR (fire engine) companies
- The other metric is specifically for ambulances responding to life-threatening medical emergencies
- The average response time for ambulances alone to life-threatening emergencies is 8 minutes 16 seconds for fiscal year 2024

Okay.
1:28:52
Thank you for that.
1:28:54
And also for clarification, the mayor's management report said that the average time to life threatening calls was 7 minutes 22 against.
1:29:03
But in a previous statement that you made, you referred that it was over 8 minutes.
1:29:08
Can you clarify if that's a cumulative average for response time for life threatening and non life threatening call calls, or was it was that inaccurate in the MMR report?
Rebecca Mason
1:29:22
So I think here we're referring to 2 separate metrics in the MMR.
1:29:26
One of them is the combined response by both ambulances and the CFR companies from which are fire engines.
1:29:33
And then the second one would be the average response time to life threatening medical emergencies by ambulances alone.
1:29:39
So that one for just the ambulances is 8 minutes 16 seconds.
1:29:44
For the fiscal 24.
Joann Ariola
1:29:46
Okay.
1:29:46
Thank you for that clarification.
