Council Member Gale Brewer inquires about the implementation timeline and potential benefits of the new CAD system. Chief Michael Fields explains that the current system is over 30 years old, and they are working with OTR to establish a new system, though no specific date is set.
- The current CAD system is over 30 years old and considered a legacy system
- FDNY is working with OTR to implement a new CAD system, but no specific timeline is provided
- The new system is expected to improve call entry, dispatch speed, and integration with other systems like health EPCR and GPS

So you that has added to your coverage, I would assume, necessary coverage.
1:18:37
Right?
1:18:37
Yes.
1:18:38
Now we should because I know when I when I see this list here, it's not listed as one of the challenges that you're also facing.
1:18:44
So I just wanted to make sure that people understand that.
1:18:47
The other thing, how you mentioned this new CAD system, when would that go into effect?
1:18:51
I heard you sort of be vaguely saved the future.
1:18:54
And how would that make a difference?
Michael Fields
1:18:57
The the current CAT system that we're working with is about 30 plus years old.
Gale Brewer
1:19:02
That's kinda old.
Michael Fields
1:19:03
It's a legacy CAT system.
Gale Brewer
1:19:05
So, like, cobalt.
1:19:06
Sounds like cobalt to me.
Michael Fields
1:19:08
That's correct.
1:19:09
And this So no.
1:19:11
But it's it's a it's a legacy system.
1:19:15
We are working with OTR currently for plans on establishing a new system, so that's in the works.
1:19:22
I I don't have a date in respect to that.
Stu Weiss
1:19:24
So
Gale Brewer
1:19:24
how would it make a difference?
1:19:25
Other systems around the country, I assume, are already using some of the new ones, and you probably know from your colleagues.
Michael Fields
1:19:31
I think technology, the age that we live in now, technology is gonna make an immense difference in respect to how the call is entered, how fast we're able to enter the call, dispatch out to our respective units, the way that we integrate other systems with that, whether that be health EPCR, whether that be GPS and so forth.
1:19:49
But, you know, technology definitely matters.
