Thank you, chairs and thank you to the agencies who are present today.

I I wanted to, you know, acknowledge that outreach and and empowering homeowners is great.
0:55:46
And also, I I represent Bed Stuy and Crown Heights where we see a lot of this behavior go on.
0:55:52
You know, that outreach is great.
0:55:53
The empowering is great.
0:55:55
But I want us to make sure that we understand that it's key that these solicitations like truly do end.
0:56:03
I think, Chair Menon and Chair Hudson, really address the fact that, you know, even sending this mail out to some of these seniors when they're already wary about mail that, is, you know, potentially fraudulent, is something that isn't going to address the problem.
0:56:22
I wanted to ask how the Administration is ensuring that, Cs and desist zones, are actually being implemented.
0:56:30
I think that's been, you know, the only solution that I've heard in terms of how to tackle this, but I wanna know what the city is actually doing to implement those zones, especially with a key focus on community districts that are most impacted, most especially mine.

So I would love to just hear insight from the agencies in terms of what you guys are doing in that regard, Especially, the Department of Finance, maybe it'll be more specific.

Okay.

So for that information, we could get that information from you and that would be from I mean, for you and that would be from our sheriff's department?
Crystal Hudson
0:57:15
I'm sorry.
0:57:15
Can you just pull the microphone a little bit closer so that everyone can hear you?
Colette McCain-Jacques
0:57:19
We can get that information for you from the sheriff's department Mhmm.
0:57:24
And we'll be able to tell you what it is that they're exactly doing in order to
Chi A. Ossé
0:57:29
Mhmm.
0:57:30
I I really do appreciate the work that you guys are doing.
0:57:36
I think that this is such a problem that's impacting people on a daily basis, especially my constituents.
0:57:45
And it seems like the solution is very clear, right?
0:57:50
I feel like it should be a number one priority of the agency just to make sure that when a specific zip code or community board or, communities are labeled as seasoned systems to prevent deed theft that, you know, every part of our government is working on ensuring that that is being prevented.

far as the Department of Finance, we are every chance that we get, if we see something trending where it looks like it's deed fraud, we're on it and we're trying to find ways to improve it.
