Hello.
5:44:07
My name is Isis Mireles.
5:44:10
I'm Mexican.
5:44:11
I came to the United States in the year 1999 as an immigrant with the desire to study, But there was in place a barrier that didn't allow me to do so for the lack of legal documents.
5:44:27
This hurt my feelings.
5:44:29
I felt sad to see how citizens were able to advance, and I was left seeing them progress.
5:44:36
I felt alone and without hope.
5:44:39
My biggest desire was to be a lawyer.
5:44:42
In 2018, I got my citizenship.
5:44:46
And today, it is my goal to obtain a GED.
5:44:51
Many years have passed, and maybe today, I am not, what I desired to be before.
5:44:59
But still lives in me the hope to get an office job as a secretary.
5:45:08
I I'm attending, Food Vendors Organization to be able to obtain the opportunity of a license as a street vendor.
5:45:20
But, even though I'm a citizen, I still have to face the great barrier of the opposition, against opportunity.
5:45:30
And I feel frustrated just, like the people, who, and and and I understand their frustration, their frustration too.
5:45:40
Today, I represent food vendors in the support of the immigrant community so the rights are respected in the country of liberty for their own good and their families.
5:45:55
It is not nice to see how they persecute them and how they attack them, violating their rights as if they were criminals.
5:46:04
As immigrants, we just want to work and provide for our families.
5:46:09
We don't want criminals with license plates.
5:46:13
Let them live.
5:46:14
Let them work.
5:46:16
They also pay taxes.
5:46:18
Let's protect them.
5:46:19
Immigrants count too.
5:46:24
We, want for the street vendors reform to be approved and also for immigration reform to be approved.
5:46:33
We don't want criminals with license plates.
5:46:35
We want a solution.
5:46:37
We want positive action.
5:46:41
We don't want just, fairy tales.
5:46:46
And we want better training for officers so they can respect the rights of immigrants.
5:46:53
Thank you for your attention, for your time, and thank you for your patience.
