Council Member Hudson inquires about the number of OACs located on NYCHA property and their distribution across boroughs. NYC Aging representatives provide detailed information on the current status of OACs.

  • There are currently 106 OACs on NYCHA property across the five boroughs
  • Borough breakdown: 27 in the Bronx, 34 in Brooklyn, 31 in Manhattan, 9 in Queens, and 5 in Staten Island
  • NYC Aging believes the number of OACs may have increased with the last RFP, but exact details on NYCHA sites are not immediately available
  • Representatives commit to following up with more specific information on changes in the number of OACs over the past 5-10 years

Okay.
2:05:29
How many OACs located on NYCHA property are currently in operation?
2:05:35
And do you have the breakdown by borough?
UNKNOWN
2:05:38
Yeah.
2:05:38
Oh, yeah.
2:05:39
Thank you.
2:05:40
Sorry.
2:05:44
Yes.
2:05:45
So we have, a 106 right now, throughout the 5 boroughs, 27 in the Bronx, 34 in Brooklyn, 31 in Manhattan, 9 in Queens, and 5 in Staten Island.
Crystal Hudson
2:05:54
27 in the Bronx, 34 in Brooklyn.
UNKNOWN
2:05:56
31 in Manhattan.
Ryan Murray
2:05:58
Mhmm.
UNKNOWN
2:05:58
9 in Queens and 5 Staten Island.
Crystal Hudson
2:06:02
Okay.
2:06:02
Thank you.
2:06:07
Do you know if this number has increased or decreased over the past 5 10 years?
UNKNOWN
2:06:13
I'm trying to remember when the last RFP what year, I mean, it could have changed with the RFP, but, generally
Crystal Hudson
2:06:19
Are we trending up, trending down?
UNKNOWN
2:06:21
With the RFP, I believe new sites opened.
2:06:24
I don't know exactly how many were NYCHA sites, but I we have opened with the last RFP, new sites were opened.
Renee Keitt
2:06:30
Okay.
UNKNOWN
2:06:33
And we can we would have that.
2:06:34
I just don't have that off right here.
Crystal Hudson
2:06:36
Okay.
2:06:36
It'd be great if you could follow-up with that.
2:06:38
And then what kind of assessments, if any, does NYC Aging undertake to determine whether a NYCHA location might be a good candidate for an OAC?
UNKNOWN
2:06:46
You mean during an, RFP process?
2:06:48
Right.
Ryan Murray
2:06:53
I I think it, relates to the RFP criteria overall, which is, you know, you've gotta show that you've got a population, you've got the outreach, you've got the partnership of the TA president, and, you've got a people you can work with, so, you know, possible site control and all the other things.
2:07:13
And, in terms of quality, we pretty much lay out what we expect in terms of a program and what's required in the RFP.
2:07:21
The standards, for operating a program are attached to the RFPs, typically.
2:07:26
And it will lay out, like, what do we mean about food preparation, whether or not they're preparing it or they're catering it.
2:07:32
So, our evaluators look at all that information, whether it's NYCHA or another site, and we'll make a decision based, we'll score proposals based on what they submit.
