Council Member Narcisse inquires about H+H's policies regarding the prescribing of naloxone and other drugs aimed at preventing overdose deaths. Dr. Schatz explains the importance of naloxone distribution and H+H's approach to making it widely available.
- H+H's guideline is to provide naloxone as often as possible, whenever patients need it
- Naloxone kits are distributed through various channels:
- Emergency departments (ED Leads program)
- Inpatient settings (CATCH staff and addiction response teams)
- SHOW vans
- Outpatient addiction services
- Any H+H staff member can access and provide naloxone kits to patients and their families
- The policy emphasizes the importance of naloxone not just for individual patients, but also for community-wide overdose prevention

Does H and H have any specific policies regarding the prescribing of, naloxosone and other drugs aimed at preventing overdose death?

Go ahead.
Dr. Daniel Schatz
1:11:17
Naloxone is, a a critical piece of our tools to Yep.
1:11:21
Help, address address patients and just show them that we care.
1:11:23
What's important is it's not just for that individual, but they might be in the community where they can provide it, including their, families.
1:11:30
As far as our guidelines, it's give naloxone as often as we can, whenever ever they need it, whenever they approach our system.
1:11:37
So in the emergency department, we have the ED leads that is regularly giving naloxone kits.
1:11:41
On the inpatient setting, we have CATCH staff that are CATCH and soon to be addiction response teams providing naloxone kits.
1:11:48
Our show vans also provide naloxone kits as well as our, our outpatient addiction services.
1:11:53
But more so than any of that, anyone in health and hospitals is able to get access to a kit and be able to provide it to, a patient and their family.
