Dr. Rebecca Linn-Walton outlines the department's multifaceted approach to improving outreach and messaging to diverse communities in response to Council Member Linda Lee's questions. The strategies aim to address the complexities of reaching various subgroups within broader racial categories.
- Emphasis on adapting outreach methods, language, and messaging to meet the needs of diverse communities
- Collaboration with schools to update information sharing, particularly in light of cannabis legalization
- Use of a rapid assessment response team to gather community feedback and adapt communication strategies

Thanks.
1:38:31
It's a it's an important question that we're struggling with too.
1:38:34
It's all of the above.
1:38:35
It's sometimes that we're not reaching the widest range and different types of people within one community who have different affiliations and identities.
1:38:44
Are we not doing we're working closely with the school system too.
1:38:48
Is there updates we need to be doing to the types of information we're sharing?
1:38:52
For example, now that cannabis is legal, how we're talking to parents about keeping any edibles or other supply they have safe from children and having honest conversations that if you know it's in your house, you need to be having that conversation with your kid about it as well.
1:39:06
And so we're constantly trying to think about, if is it something as simple as not the right languages?
1:39:11
Are we not in the right spaces?
1:39:13
Are we not using the right language to talk about what we're what we're experiencing and what other people are experiencing as well?
1:39:20
And so we have people we have a rapid assessment response team who are out in the communities figuring that out, and then they're working with community providers as well to adapt their language and how they talk about it as well.
1:39:31
And so I think it's this constant feedback between us and the community experts to adapt what we're sharing out as well.
Linda Lee

Okay.
1:39:42
Great.
1:39:42
Thank you.
