Council Member Shahana Hanif inquires about the expected timeline for payments that are not delayed. Liz Vladeck provides information on current and future payment timelines.
- Under the LV litigation, the DOE is required to make payments within 35 days of receiving an order.
- The US Department of Education is asking the DOE to reduce this timeline to 30 days.
- The DOE is not yet meeting these targets but is working towards them.
- When asked about a specific timeframe for achieving on-time payments, Vladeck couldn't provide a definite answer but offered to discuss the work needed to reach that goal offline.

So under LV, the requirement is that we have to make payments within 35 days of the order of receiving the order.

The state is actually asking us to try to get that, I think, via US DOE, is asking us to get that down to 30 days.

We're not at those targets yet, but that's obviously what we're working towards.
