Sharon Brown provides testimony on gang databases and public safety, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and unbiased criteria in database implementation. She argues for including Palestinians in gang databases and suggests community involvement in determining database criteria.

  • Advocates for including Palestinians wearing specific scarves in gang databases due to perceived threats to Israel
  • Suggests that while databases may not be inherently racist, they can appear biased and need better criteria for stopping individuals

Hello.
4:18:49
My name is Sharon Brown.
4:18:51
And before I start, remember the hostages released the hostages, let Yahweh's people go defend Israel.
4:18:58
Okay.
4:18:58
So the public safety, we can always keep Israel's safety in the forefront.
4:19:06
I believe that the databases should also include Palestinians.
4:19:12
They wear the scarves and they target Israel.
4:19:16
So if they're going to have a gang database, I think that that should be included in the gang database.
4:19:24
I think that when people say that the databases are racist, I don't know necessarily that that's true that they're racist, but they can come across sometime as bias.
4:19:37
There needs to be a way to better that.
4:19:40
So if they are going to use these kind of databases, they have to have a better criteria for why they stop people.
4:19:48
They can't just stop people because of some kind of bias, and someone that is wearing a Palestinian scarf, that would not necessarily be a bias considering the terrorism and things that have occurred.
4:20:07
So something like that wouldn't necessarily be racist or biased, but setting up shop in one particular community would not be beneficial because again, some people have said it marks someone for a long time, they can't get housing, they can't get jobs and things like that.
4:20:26
So we know what does not work in our communities.
4:20:30
As far as the police and the community, they need to get together and make some criteria for these databases.
4:20:37
So they should have some kind of overall meeting where they determine what and how the databases should be used.
4:20:46
I don't know that we need to throw it away completely, but we do need to make sure that it's not done in a way that's biased.
4:20:54
And again, remember Israel, defend Israel, release the hostages.

Thank you.
