Council Member Eric Dinowitz inquires about the expansion plans and impact evaluation of the CUNY CARES program. CUNY officials provide limited information on the program's evaluation and expansion.
- The program is a three-year pilot planned to expand to all campuses by 2026
- Evaluation of the pilot is still ongoing and not finalized
- Officials could not provide detailed data on the program's impact beyond the number of students served
- There have been about 26,000 direct interactions with CUNY CARES for the 6,500 students served

for expansion.
1:00:23
And you do, I believe, also have you do also have funds from the city council for this program in the last fiscal Are you on this is a pilot program, which according to the website, it's a three year pilot that is going to be expanded to all campuses by 2026.
1:00:39
Are you on track to expand this type of program to all campuses by 2026?
Alicia Alvero
1:00:46
I would have to get back to you unless you have an answer to that.
Eric Dinowitz
1:00:48
We'll have to get back to you.
1:00:52
I think
Sherif Soliman

the evaluation of the pilot is still it hasn't been finalized, but we'll get back to you in terms of once that evaluation is complete what the expansion plans are.
Eric Dinowitz
1:01:02
How are you measuring the impact of the CUNY CARES program?
1:01:08
And is there any publicly available data that would indicate that this is a successful program that is helping our students.
Alicia Alvero
1:01:18
I do not have any publicly available data yet other than what I just reported to you of the number of students that have received services through CUNY CARES, but I can
Eric Dinowitz
1:01:32
ask the director and get you more information.
1:01:34
So it's been in place since 2023.
1:01:37
Cares.
1:01:38
Gonna wait for that siren.
1:01:44
It's been in place since it was launched in fall twenty twenty three.
1:01:47
I would imagine there's preliminary evaluation data to measure the impact of this program, which, by the way, I think is, again, similar to ASAP, exactly what school and college should be, but there's no preliminary data available or should I expect that later?
Alicia Alvero
1:02:06
You should expect that later other than the 6,500 students.
1:02:12
And I can say because students often have multiple interactions with CUNY CARES, of those 6,500 students, there's been about 26,000 direct interactions with CUNY CARES.
Eric Dinowitz
1:02:24
Okay.
