The meeting resulted in valuable outcomes, including discovering that a new firehouse project was fully funded and would break ground in August.
- The meeting facilitated better communication between local officials and the FDNY.
- It led to the borough president committing additional funding to the FDNY.
- The council member emphasized the effectiveness of smaller, focused group meetings in achieving concrete results.

I just wanted to say you you spoke about the meeting that you held in in Queens.
1:04:53
It was certainly unique And you had council members there that were from this this committee that were in Queens and also community boards and the borough president.
1:05:03
And and the fact that you were there was, as I said, very unique.
1:05:08
And yes, we did realize a get from that meeting.
1:05:12
But you also mentioned the firehouse.
1:05:15
Had that meeting not taken place, the borough president, the community board, and our office would not have known about that shovel going in the ground in August.
1:05:24
In fact, we were of the impression that it was underfunded and wouldn't be happening.
1:05:30
But because of you, your first deputy commissioner and Jason Shelley did the background work, did Doug, and I want to thank my chief of staff, Phyllis and Cirillo for working with you on that, We found out that there will be a shovel in the ground.
1:05:44
So that type of dialogue, that type of meeting in smaller groups that you are really in favor of really does get a lot of work done.
1:05:55
And there, out of that meeting, we walked out not thinking, oh, well, just another meeting.
1:06:00
That meeting really garnered a lot of support for the FDNY and also you wound up walking away with money, like you said, and the borough president's committed to it.
1:06:13
And he called me yesterday and he was so happy about the firehouse because it really does need to be replaced.
1:06:19
And I thank you for the work that you did in the background.
1:06:22
So I just I want to get back to fleet maintenance.
