The Parks Department is significantly expanding its second shift evening and weekend park maintenance strategy to keep busy parks clean during peak usage times.
- Over $12 million in new baseline funding is allocated for staff to clean 100 additional busy park hotspots during evenings and weekends.
- This builds upon the initial wave of second shift maintenance funding from the previous budget.
- The expanded strategy will provide coverage at a total of 200 separate locations in 121 of the busiest parks.
- Full deployment of the new hires is aimed for mid-April, coinciding with the start of the busiest park season.
