I'm looking for miss Valerie.
2:21:24
Please come to the front of the delegation.
2:21:26
So I'm gonna start my speech off real quick.
2:21:36
SYEP, obviously we love this program but we have to reimagine youth employment in the city.
2:21:43
We just have to.
2:21:44
It just it just can't continue to be this way because again, even in the crossroad justice, they're like miss, when I get out I need a job and we are not offering that to them.
2:21:53
So we it's a program that we obviously love and we wanna keep but we also need to at the same time walk and chew gum, reimagine workforce for young people because this is not enough.
2:22:05
And I know we've like extended work long row but it still has restrictions there, but I think holistically I mean I met with the chancellor, I met with her also yesterday and we talked about the things that they're doing around workforce development and so I really think that we all just need to come to the table to really come up with a comprehensive plan to talk about like how many internships we can provide, how many jobs we can provide and all the things because it is I am concerned.
2:22:29
We are building out a facility at Horizon to add additional beds which means we are if we build it they will come which means young more young people will be in secure detention.
2:22:38
Our close to home programs are busting out at the seams.
2:22:41
So this is a problem and we have to understand we are in a crisis because we know that once they get touched by the juvenile system, they're going to stay there and they're going to be a revolving door.
2:22:50
So we as a collective have to come up with a real comprehensive plan because every single young person is like miss I need a job.
2:22:58
You want me to be on the street?
2:22:59
Give me a job.
2:23:00
And they're like, and I don't know why nobody wants a minimum wage job, but that's some other story.
2:23:05
So hello, welcome to the Jazz.
2:23:09
