Good afternoon.
3:28:04
My name is Lacey Tauber.
3:28:05
I'm here representing Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.
3:28:09
I have five things I want to touch on, so I'm going to summarize and submit longer testimony written.
3:28:15
The first one, the biggest priority for the borough president is commercial waste zones.
3:28:20
I want to lift up everything you've heard from the advocates today and just say I think we all agree that you know the true efficacy of this program is going to be when it's rolled out to all 20 zones citywide and thank you so much for your questions today.
3:28:38
I think they were exactly on point because we all know that that's going to require more funding for outreach, more funding for enforcement, more civilian headcount and I really hope that sanitation gets back to you with those numbers so that we can all be on the same page about what we need to advocate for to get this done in the next fiscal year.
3:28:57
The second thing is containerization, especially lifting up what you heard from Claire earlier just about how you know we all support containerization, we just want to see it done right and the BP has been on record many times talking about wanting to fast track the on street shared containers, making sure that we're including recycling and organics and you know, just making sure that we're doing this also correctly but also quickly so that you know, we get these bags off our streets.
3:29:29
The third thing is community composting.
3:29:33
Thank you so much to the council for restoring that funding.
3:29:37
BP just wants to reiterate his support for their ask for this budget year and including the Lower East Side Ecology Center's ask for a new home in Brooklyn.
3:29:48
And the fourth thing is the solid waste management plan.
3:29:52
You've heard some folks talk about that.
3:29:56
Given that sanitation brought it in house, it's a little unclear what resources are being devoted to it.
3:30:02
It's such an important document and we want to see it, the outreach and engagement start and it's concerning that it hasn't.
3:30:11
Finally, just want to put in a plug for the District 13 And 15 garages.
3:30:16
They are among the worst physical plant in DSNY's inventory and so every year we advocate for them to have new homes and so I just wanted to say that again.
3:30:26
Thank you so much.
