Acting Commissioner Javier Lojan discusses the timeline and evaluation process for the Manhattan Community District 9 containerization pilot program. He emphasizes the importance of assessing the pilot's effectiveness before expanding to other districts.

  • The pilot will start installing containers in 18 schools in April, with full operation by June 1.
  • About 1,100 bins will be installed as part of the pilot.
  • Lojan stresses the need for authorizing legislation to secure funding for potential expansion.

And I think in order for us to get a a good sense of what the rollout looks like after that, think we should evaluate the pilot a lot more and see what works, what doesn't work.

But I think, you know, as you mentioned, chair, and as I mentioned in the testimony, the legislation is a big part of that because of the funding, necessity for for it.
